What's a Vineyard

Who we are

When you look around on Sundays, you may have a difficult time seeing the commonality between us. We are students, retirees, children, parents, young professionals, construction workers, and educators. There may even be a few Cubs fans hiding among us. While we have our differences, it’s the things we hold in common that make us a community.

We believe God is both personal and powerful. When we let Him in, our hearts are changed, our lives are changed, our families are changed, and our community is changed. When we pray together and invite God into our real life circumstances, we experience Him in real and powerful ways. God meets us and loves us right where we are. We pray you will experience the same.

Why are you called Vineyard?

Vineyard Community Church is part of a nationwide association of Christian churches whose name reflects Isaiah 27:2-3.

The Bible uses a vineyard to symbolize people brought together by God to produce spiritual fruit. As we show God’s love to others, God promises to care for us and provide us with everything we need to do what He asks. The result is spiritual fruit.

We are part of the “Association of Vineyard Churches,” which includes around 600 churches in the U.S. and over 2,400 churches worldwide.

Our History

Vineyard Community Church held its first official service in October 1997.  We began from a small team from California, led by David and Debi Stark, who felt called to plant a church in St. Louis. David and Debi both grew up in the Midwest but moved to California in the 90's to join Vineyard Christian Fellowship of the Penninsula in Palo Alto, CA where he eventually served as a staff pastor for four years. before planting our Vineyard.
