What is Empowered to Connect?
The Empowered to Connect Conference is a two-day event presented by Show Hope. Experience practical teaching in a safe and supportive community as we work to equip families, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care. This year’s conference includes Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) methods developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, which exists to bring attachment and connection in families. (Watch this video for more about TBRI)

But, I don’t have adopted or foster kids.  Is this conference really for me?
This conference is geared toward families, churches, and caregivers in all settings who have relationships with kids from hard places, or kids who have experienced trauma. This could mean kids who are in foster care or who have been adopted, but it could also apply to kids who have been affected by divorce, death of a loved one, or even a serious illness. The strategies and parenting approaches it focuses on are actually powerful tools for helping children from ALL backgrounds. The “Connected Parenting” style, at its core, mirrors what we see in scripture about how God parents us! It is based on a deep connection between the parent or caregiver and the child, and prioritizes that connection as a launching point for all correction.

Here’s why we think you should consider attending
This will be a weekend of powerful learning for parents and caregivers, but it also offers an opportunity for the entire church to embrace the kids God is bringing to us, and learn how to love them the way God Himself has loved us. You will find valuable insights and perspectives from a variety of speakers. Come to be challenged and inspired, and to be filled with hope for the wonderful plans God has for kids who have been through hard things. We live in a broken world, but God’s kingdom is breaking in, and is at work bringing redemption to the least of us. Come and see how you can participate in His work!
