Fall Men’s Retreat
“Do, Be, Do, Be, Do”
Balancing What I do and Who I Am
November 3-5, 2017
Camp Mihaska in Bourbon, MO
“To be is to do”—Socrates.
“To do is to be”—Jean-Paul Sartre.
“Do be do be do”—Frank Sinatra.
What’s more important: who you are or what you do? It’s actually a nonsense question; both are essential. If our being and our doing aren’t connected and in balance, life can feel unstable, unhinged. We’re like “strangers in the night.”
The life Jesus taught and modeled embraces balance between being and doing. They are like yin and yang: both are essential, and they work together to create a life that makes more sense and is more satisfying that if we overemphasize one or the other.
This year’s men’s retreat will bring together being and doing: free time and smoked meat balanced with listening to one another and sharing our own reflections. We’ll focus on who we are and what we do, how we find equilibrium, and the rich and satisfying life that results.
